Himalaya Mountain View

The tall snow-covered peaks, lush river valleys,fruit-laden orchards, dense forests and the gurgling crystal-clear streams will bring you closer to a communion with God. Himalaya ("abode of snow" in Sanskrit)is a vast rugged region straddling across many countries like India,China,Tibet and Nepal. In the following pages, we will view one of the most magnificent regions in the Indian Himalayas - Himachal Pradesh.

After a long arduous road journey from Delhi through Chandigar, the sight of snow-capped mountains will prove to be an immensely exhilarating experience.

Or you might try a romantic trip in a "toy" Train chugging away through the delightful meandering mountainous landscape from Kalka to Shimla, the capital of this tiny Himalayan province.
Or drive through the breathtaking Kullu Valley through which snakes the furious river Beas.

Himachal Pradesh represents the confluence of man and nature. You can see Buddhist monks and Hindu sadhus venerated in this region. Pristine woods and alpine meadows alternate in this valley of enchantment, luring visitors from all over the World. About 40 km away is Manali, a paradise for the outdoors man. This little town has a 450 years old Dhoongri temple, with intricate wood carvings, dedicated to Hadimba Devi.

The inhabitants, most of them farmers and semi-nomadic pastoralists are known for their honesty, tolerance and hospitality. The tradition and culture of these people are as diverse as their rugged valleys as exemplified by their rituals, customs, crafts and apparels.
